BUSINESSES in Ludlow and south Shropshire are being given help with winning work as part of the 2012 London Olympics.

A series of workshops outlining the huge variety of business opportunities being created by the games for county companies are proving popular.

Three workshops being delivered by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce and Business Link West Midlands, with support from Shropshire Council, are due to be held over the next few months, with 50 places available at each.

The first workshop, at Ludlow Food Centre on Tuesday, is already fully booked, and places are also being snapped up at events planned for Shrewsbury on January 26, and at Hadley Park Hotel on April 1.

The events are aimed at small and medium-sized companies wishing to understand the wide range of business opportunities available and how to gain access to them.

The Government-sponsored workshops are designed to ensure that any UK business that believes it has potential to provide products or services is given every opportunity to do so.

Other events advising companies about how to benefit from the opportunities presented by London 2012 are currently being planned by Shropshire Council.
