THE new Bishop of Ludlow is setting a cracking pace, aiming to visit all parts of the Diocese of Hereford within the next six weeks.

The Rt Rev Alistair Magowan was installed as Bishop of Ludlow at a service in St Paul’s Cathedral in London last week by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The new Bishop now aims to visit all 13 deaneries representing the parishes in the diocese.

“I want to get into all areas of the diocese as quickly as possible,” said Bishop Alistair. “I am hoping to meet the movers and shakers of the diocese and certainly the clergy wherever possible.

Those in charge are drawing up a programme for me, so it will be different in each deanery. I suppose something of an exciting journey of discovery.”

Bishop Alistair was officially welcomed as the new Bishop of Ludlow at a service at St Laurence Church in Ludlow on Sunday. He was accompanied by his wife Louise and other family members.

Ludlow MP Philip Dunne said: “He gave an uplifting message of encouragement for those involved with the work of the church. I shall look forward to working with him.”
