HARVEST SALE AND SOCIAL - On Friday, September 18, Cleobury Mortimer branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding its annual harvest sale to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal (as the Earl Haig Fund is normally known these days). Gifts of harvest produce, or any other saleable items, will be most welcome and will be sold at auction in The Bell Inn, Lower Street, Cleobury Mortimer. Branch chairman Jim Hulme will conduct the auction, hoping to beat last year’s total of £563.
After the sale, the branch’s next event in Cleobury itself will be the social evening on Friday, October 23. Vocal entertainer Fred Lee has been booked, and a buffet supper will be laid on in the Parish Hall, Lower Street, Cleobury Mortimer.
Tickets, priced at £8, are available from Ron Breakwell, Barry Salt, and Roger Gittens. Proceeds from the evening will also swell the branch contribution to the Poppy Appeal. Last year’s Social Evening was a sell-out, and branch president Ron Breakwell is confident that this can be repeated this year.
The branch always welcomes new members. Please ring 01299 270110 for a membership form.
