THE last time Jeremy Hardy came to Ludlow he was unable to get a hotel room because, they informed him, “Jeremy Hardy’s playing Ludlow Assembly Rooms and we’re sold out”. As well as numerous radio and TV panel show appearances Jeremy Hardy is one of the UK’s foremost stand-up comedians, whose live work has included Montreal Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where he won the prestigious Perrier Award.
His current tour is described, in typically selfdeprecating way, as “an extravaganza, except for the fact that nothing happens”. He comes on, talks for a while and then goes off again. He doesn’t walk about. He doesn’t even take the microphone out of the stand. But he does say quite a lot, most of it coherent. And he means well, which is the main thing. Ever keen to diversify, Jeremy appeared in Hotel in 2003, a feature film directed by Mike Figgis, opposite Burt Reynolds, David Schwimmer and Rhys Ifans. Jeremy Hardy will be at Ludlow Assembly Rooms on Saturday, August 29, at 8pm. To book call 01584 878141.
