A TOWERING tribute will be paid to one of the stars of the 1960s’ folk scene in Ludlow tonight, Thursday, August 20.
St Laurence’s Church will be lit up to celebrate the life of Cliff Hall, a founder member of Liverpool-based band The Spinners.
Cliff died in Australia last year but a trip to Ludlow by his widow Dorothy has led to the illuminating tribute.
“I brought her to Ludlow about three weeks ago and she absolutely loved it,” said her friend Sue Read from Gloucester. “She had never visited before and loved everything. She thought it was lovely.”
“After this she even brought members of her family down from Manchester to see it.”
Cliff was raised in Jamaica, came to the UK to join the RAF and visited the county during this time.
