FOUR memorials, including a war grave, that were vandalised in an historic Ludlow churchyard have been repaired.
The work was done free of charge by Adam Collier, aged 31, of Stretton Memorials, and his brother-in-law Aaron Simpson.
Adam, who originates from Ludlow, decided to offer to do the work because he has family graves in St Leonard’s churchyard.
Research by the Friends of St Leonard’s has found seven ‘Collier’ headstones in the churchyard, dating between 1848 and 1913.
In the vandalism, three headstones were either snapped off or pushed over and the grave of a ser viceman from the Second World War was also damaged.
The vandalism happened under the cover of darkness and church officials are considering the options for improving security.
