COMMUNITY SCHOOL – Longtown Community School provides a wide range of after-school activities, including rounders, French, dance, gardening and canoeing. All the clubs are well-attended and supported by parents.The extension to the school building is progressing well and it is hoped that it will be in full use before the end of term.

ROGATION WALK – The Rogation walk will take place on Sunday, May 17, starting from Craswall Church.

The walk is about five miles and will end with a picnic, so please bring something to eat. Regrettably, no dogs please but wear stout footwear and hope for good weather.

LENT LUNCHES – Lent lunches 2009 in Longtown raised £1,066 for St Michael’s Hospice. A huge thank you to all who held the lunches at various venues and to all who donated money. It really was a wonderful result.

ESCLEY YOUTH CLUB – Escley Youth Club will meet at Michaelchurch Pavilion tomorrow (Friday) from 6.30pm to 8pm.

AFRICAN EVENT – An African event will be held tomorrow (Friday) in Longtown village hall from 7pm to 9pm. Come and hear about the school which our group of parishes supports in Hegongo, Tanzia. There will be African food to try and African music to enjoy, so come and support this event. Tickets are available form Rev Rodgers.

LONGTOWN AND DISTRICT WI – Longtown and District WI celebrates its 70th anniversary on Saturday and welcomes people to come and join members for a jelly and ice cream tea party in the village hall from 3pm to 5pm.

BARBECUE – Longtown Village Pride is holding a barbecue at the Cornewell Arms, Clodock, on Sunday from noon onwards. Entry is free and all are welcome. Please bring your own meat, plates and cutlery. Bread, salads and puddings will be provided.

Contributions towards Longtown Village Pride will be welcome.
