PATH House, based in Ludlow, was the winner of two awards presented by South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust at its Alternative Oscars ceremony.

The service, which provides an alternative to hospital admission for people with mental health problems who are in crisis, is the first of its kind in Shropshire.

Staff received both the better ways of working, and the working in partnership awards.

The awards were launched to recognise and celebrate individuals and teams who have made an exceptional contribution to patient care.

There were 13 awards and nominations came from people who use the trust’s services and their carers, colleagues from partner organisations, and staff and managers from across the trust.

PATH House staff were particularly recognised for the emotional and practical support they provided and their dedication to enabling people to receive care and treatment within their community.

They were also recognised for their partnership working with Shropshire County Council and breaking down professional boundaries to get the job done.

Service user satisfaction surveys have indicated almost 100% satisfaction for the past three years.

“The team at PATH House really stood out as making a real difference to service users.

“The members are not afraid to try new approaches and work in different ways to make sure they are providing a service that people really want,” said chief executive Neil Carr.
