LUDLOW residents in the Corve Street area are anxiously watching river levels this morning.
The River Corve has burst its banks and water is streaming across fields surrounding the nearly completed Burway Bridge.
Last year, its predecessor collapsed following one of the most severe floods in living memory.
Today’s downpour appears less serious but Lower Corve Street has been shut to traffic due to surface water.
Water is being pumped from Corve Bridge garage, while a nearby car dealership has moved vehicles as a precaution.
Some businesses along Lower Corve Street are still trading and work is continuing on the construction of the new bridge.
