Ludlow Castle has announced the latest acts to perform this year.

James will be performing on Thursday, July 25, supported by The Pigeon Detectives, Sleeper and The Clause.

Residents of Ludlow and surrounding areas with postcodes SY7, SY8 and HR6 will have priority access to pre-sale tickets from 9am on Wednesday, July 24 before they go on general sale two days later.

James is a Manchester-based rock band that gained popularity in the 1990s.

They had four top 10 singles and nine top 10 albums, with their biggest hits being 'Come Home', 'Sit Down', 'She's a Star' and 'Laid'.

Following the departure of lead singer Tim Booth in 2001, the band became inactive, but reunited in January 2007 and have gone on to produce a further seven albums.

The Pigeon Detectives, meanwhile, are an indie rock band that were formed in 2004.

They have released six albums to date and have performed on the main stage at the Reading and Leeds festivals.

Sleeper is another rock band, who formed in London in 1992. The group had eight UK top 40 singles and three UK top 10 albums during the 1990s.

The Clause, meanwhile, are a four-piece alternative group from Birmingham that combine the best sounds of guitar music through every decade.

The concert is the start of a four-day 'Live at Ludlow Castle' event.

1980s superstars, Madness, supported by The Zutons, will be performing on Saturday, July 27, with acclaimed singer-songwriter, Anne Marie appearing on stage the following night.

Ludlow Castle is due to announce who will be appearing on the Friday night (July 26) in due course. It is the second time that a weekend of concerts will be held at the castle.

Last year, Niles & Chic, The Kaiser Chiefs, Rag & Bone Man and Clean Bandit were the musical acts that performed as part of a 'Within the Walls' series.

The event brought a boost to trade in Ludlow, despite heavy rain over the weekend and noise complaints.
