STAFF at a nursery have been described as "warm and welcoming" in a recent Ofsted inspection.

Ever After Nursery, located in Cleobury Mortimer, has received a good Ofsted rating following its inspection which took place on October 27, 2023.

The inspection found that the nursery was a setting where children were safe and happy.

The report said: "Children are warmly welcomed by staff as they arrive at nursery. This helps them settle quickly because they are reassured by caring and interested adults. Staff organise the space effectively and offer well-planned and accessible areas, both indoors and outdoors. Children explore a rich environment. This means that children are engrossed in their learning. Staff use effective resources.

"Staff use the large garden to fully benefit children's learning and progress. Children relish being outdoors in the fresh air. They enjoy the expansive range of exciting and motivating activities which cover all areas of learning. With meaningful interactions from staff, children are encouraged to be inquisitive.

"Children develop their physical skills. They pour their drinks from jugs at snack time and balance on wooden beams. They join in circle games in the garden and follow instructions to hop and jump. They skillfully use a range of tools to paint with brushes and sponges.

"The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Staff have good safeguarding knowledge. They confidently describe the procedures they complete often. Staff hold a paediatric first-aid qualification. Children are reminded of safety rules, for example as they play outside."

The inspection found that some improvements could be made to get the nursery an outstanding rating and this included building on "staff's teaching skills so learning intentions are consistently supported during play and activities" and providing "more opportunities for children to hear the language of mathematics as they play and learn".

The nursery's previous rating was "Requires improvement", with the latest "Good" rating showing an improvement.

The report added: "Leaders and staff have worked hard to address the actions and recommendations raised at the last inspection. They have accessed a wide range of training."
