A PENSIONER has been fined by magistrates after he was caught on camera breaking the law on a busy main road.
John Anthony Maurice, who was not present at the hearing, was proven guilty of one count of exceeding a 50 miles per hour speed limit by magistrates in Worcester in December.
The court heard from the prosecutor that the 82-year-old Peugeot driver had been caught breaking the limit in a 50 miles per hour zone on the A49 at Dinmore Hill in Herefordshire on June 24.
He had been clocked speeding on the busy main road by manned camera equipment, magistrates were told.
Maurice, of Three Crosses, Clee Hill, was fined £220 for the offence and received three penalty points on his driving licence.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £90 and an £88 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
