TWO rail fare dodgers have been fined by magistrates after failing to buy tickets to travel.

Mathew Waldren was proven guilty of one count of boarding a train in a non-compulsory ticket area without a valid ticket by magistrates in Cardiff.

The court heard that Waldren had boarded a train at Craven Arms without a valid ticket entitling him to travel on it on April 8.

Waldren, of Millar Row, Craven Arms, was fined £220 for the offence and ordered to pay compensation to the train operator of £11.10.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £100 and an £88 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.

Tibor Nagy-Kovacs was proven guilty of one count of boarding a train in a non-compulsory ticket area without a valid ticket by magistrates in Cardiff.
