AN ATTACKER has been handed a community order after assaulting an ambulance worker in an incident in Craven Arms.

Joshua Davenport, who was represented in court by defence solicitor Martin McNamara, entered a guilty plea to one count of assaulting an emergency worker by beating when he appeared before magistrates in Telford in August.

The court heard from prosecutor John Weston that the 23-year-old had assaulted an emergency worker, namely a West Midlands Ambulance Service operations manager, who was acting in the course of his duties, by beating in Craven Arms on December 19.

Davenport, of Corfton, Craven Arms, was handed a 12-month community order and fined £500 for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £114 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime, but no compensation was ordered to be paid as there were no injuries.
