A VANDAL from Shropshire who smashed up windows in a Welsh seaside town has been up before the magistrates.

Brad Collier entered a guilty plea to one count of attempting criminal damage, and two counts of causing criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 when he appeared before magistrates in Caernarfon in August.

The court heard from prosecutor Diane Williams that the 25-year-old had attempted, intentionally or recklessly and without lawful excuse, to damage a window belonging to The Tea Rooms in Barmouth, Wales, on April 29.

He had also caused £2,100 worth of damage to a window belonging to Glyn Rees and Son Funeral Directors, and caused £2,300 worth of damage to a window belonging to Breese Gwyndaf Solicitors in the Welsh town, also on April 29.

Collier, of Sycamore Close, Craven Arms, was ordered to pay compensation of £1,050 to Glyn Rees and Son and £1,150 to Breese Gwyndaf Solicitors.

He was also fined a total of £768 for the offences, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty pleas into account.

No costs or surcharge were ordered to be paid due to his means.
