TICKETS are already going fast for this year's Ludlow Fringe Festival, with some shows already sold out ahead of the event, which runs from June 17 to July 2.

The festival will feature an intriguing mix of talk, music, comedy and more at a selection of venues.

Among the comedy on offer is the return of last year's hit sell-out show from Harun Musho'd – Why I Don't Talk to People About Terrorism – which will be in Oscars at Ludlow Assembly Rooms on June 22. “Harun Musho'd is an Arabic name. Good news is I can't fly a plane. Bad news is I have a rucksack. If you don't like that joke, don't come to this show,” the comedian declares. The show isn’t just about terrorism, but encompasses politics and his complex background and bonkers family.

Welsh comic Drew Taylor will deliver his razor-sharp wit and hilarious storytelling, while 'party poet' Carol Robson is back with a sparkling performance to demonstrate that ageing doesn't have to mean that you stop enjoying life.

Big name appearances from Dame Judi Dench and Jasper Carrot in conversation with Ludlow's own Alistair McGowan are already sold out.

Music will come from soloists and bands including Jon Pickard, singer songwriter Joe Bayliss, soul outfit Lucas D & The Grove Guetto, and Annette Gregory. Groove laden music from Eastern Europe and beyond will be delivered by Flatworld.

Drama will be in the spotlight with a one-woman show about the darling of the music hall – Marie Lloyd Stole My Life is a show about one of the first drag kings, Nelly Power.

The world of sport also takes centre stage, when John Inverdale, who will shortly be celebrating 40 years of covering Wimbledon, will be interviewed by tennis fan, Alistair McGowan.

Football fans, meanwhile, won't want to miss Nick Owen's interview with David Davies, who has worked alongside Terry Venables, Glenn Hoddle and Sven Goran Erikson.
