A MEETING has been held to discuss problems of speeding in Tenbury and the Teme Valley.

The thorny issue was on the agenda at a meeting involving the Chief Constable.

Harriett Baldwin MP, whose West Worcestershire constituency includes Tenbury, was briefed when she met with West Mercia Police Chief Constable Anthony Bangham to discuss local policing issues.

The MP said that local communities want to see visible policing that provides reassurance.

“I also had an interesting discussion with the Chief Constable on speeding issues, which is something that often crops up in my post bag and I know the Safer Roads partnership works well to investigate and enforce problem areas,” said Mrs Baldwin.

Speeding has been an issue that has caused concern in a number of areas in and around Tenbury. One of them, according to local residents, is the village of St Michaels where a number of elements come together to raise the level of risk.

Tenbury Town Council has been involved in trying to get traffic speeds cut through the village with local member Eric Hudson taking a lead. Ken Pollock, who represents Tenbury on Worcestershire County Council, has also been involved.

“The police force is also keen to recruit more officers and it is good to hear Anthony being confident about the service the police delivers for us all, added Mrs Baldwin.
