THERE is a couple in Church Stretton who can match the Queen and Prince Philip’s 70 years of marriage.
Stretton Hall in Church Stretton, held a ‘Platinum Party’ for a special couple on their 70th wedding anniversary.
Neville Mansfield, aged 92, and wife Joyce, aged 91, were joined by their friends, family and fellow residents to commemorate an incredible 70 years together as a happily married couple.
Residents were invited to attend the celebrations where cheese and wine was served, accompanied by some of the couple’s favourite music
The pair were childhood sweethearts from the age of seven and were married at Belle Vue Methodist Church in Shrewsbury, in 1948. They went on to have two children, one of whom was delighted to be able to join them at the party.
“I am so overwhelmed with the effort that the team at Stretton Hall have gone to, to ensure Mum and Dad have a truly special time celebrating this milestone,” said the couple’s daughter Angela.
“I’m so happy I could be here and it was great to see them have a fabulous afternoon with friends and fellow residents.”
“Mum and Dad’s secret to a happy marriage is definitely to love unconditionally, laugh a lot and compromise every now and again!”
