THE Ludlow Jubilee Garden has been opened marking the climax of a 15 year battle by the town’s Civic Society and at a cost of more than £100,000.

Museum director and art historian Sir Roy Strong came into town to officially open the garden.

Keith Thomas, President of Ludlow Civic Society paid tribute to everyone involved in eventually bringing the project to a successful conclusion.

“What we are celebrating is the triumphant conclusion of a battle which the Civic Society has been waging since 2003, when a developer first put forward a plan to build five executive houses on this very site,” he said.

During his visit in 2012 the Prince of Wales inaugurated the garden by cutting a symbolic weed.
