Blue Haze Quartet play songs 'From the Blue Hills' at Aardvarks Cafe and Bookshop tomorrow, Friday, May 11.

The group's latest album - From the Blue Hills - consists of eleven original compositions by pianist and leader Simon Deeley. All the compositions are written in Simon's signature style being a mix of Latin-jazz and fusion-jazz. Infectious, colourful Samba's and Bossa Nova's sit alongside cool-grooving jazz-fusion numbers and gentle evocative ballads. And adding a further dimension to this mix are the touches of classical genre and film music elements. The music is brought to life by the strong, incisive and harmonically vivid keyboard playing of Simon Deeley and by the driving, powerful and skilled inter-action of Charlie Russell on drums and Ian Cooper on bass, with, over-arching all, and of course putting her always clever and individual twist on the music, the virtuoso, powerhouse Martha Skilton on saxophone.

Catch the Blue Haze Quartet at Aardvark Books in Brampton Bryan tomorrow at 7.30pm. To book, call 01547 530744.
