A SPECIALLY commissioned art exhibition entitled Places of Pilgrimage: The Marches, will be held in Ludlow's St Laurence Church during the month of May.

According to the acclaimed Yorkshire-based artist, Ian Scott Massie: "This exhibition features atmospheric watercolours full of strong colour and light, as well as handmade screen prints, that are a reminder of 1930s railway posters with their clean lines and muted colours".

The exhibition includes a number of famous regional subjects - the Ludlow townscape, Hereford Cathedral, Much Wenlock Priory and Stokesay Castle - but also lesser known gems such as Abbey Dore, Caer Caradoc, Deerhurst Priory, May Hill and Symonds Yat.

According to the organisers, "This promises to be an exhibition for anyone who loves the Marches' landscape and heritage, and an opportunity to see, in paintings and prints, familiar and less well-known places through the artist's eyes”.

The art exhibition, organised by the Conservation Trust for St Laurence, Ludlow, is open daily during May and admission is free. The sale of paintings, prints and books will raise funds for the continuing restoration of the building.
