SHAWBURY United boss Dave Richards has drafted in veteran striker Steve Rogers in a bid to help his side pull away from the Midland Football League Premier Division drop zone.

Missed chances have cost the Ludlow-based outfit vital points over the last few games and the manager hopes the experienced Welsh Premier League forward could be the answer.

“Steve is on the coaching staff at Prestatyn Town but has agreed to help us out for the rest of the season,” Richards said. “It’s good that Prestatyn don’t play that many Saturday games.

“He’s 38 now but has scored bags of goals and could be just what we need to convert some of the chances that we’ve been creating.”

Shawbury were due to take on mid-table Coventry United at Ludlow last night [Wed] before heading to Quorn on Saturday. Back-to-back wins could see them climb out of the bottom three.
