HEREFORD manager Pete Beadle says he is happy with how striker Lance Smith is playing.

The former Evesham United striker could be a key player for the Bulls for the remainder of the season following news that John Mills may not be able to play all of the games due to an on-going knee problem.

However, his form has divided some supporters, with many pointing out that has made some glaring misses.

"People like Lance are never low in confidence because he's a goalscorer and he knows he's going to get chances," said Beadle.

"However, there will always be a spell when he will struggle a bit.

"But he's got about 20 goals this season and is still very raw.

"His former clubs are Bewdley and Evesham, so no disrespect to those two clubs, this is another step up for him.

"Sometimes it takes time to bed in and if he didn't miss chances, I would be a bit worried.

"There is definitely room for improvement in terms of developing his game, but I think he has had a positive six or seven months."

Nevertheless, Beadle did confirm that he is on the lookout for a potential new striker and has already made a couple of enquiries.

However, nothing has materialised yet due to players being on contracts.

Hereford are away at Dunstable Town today in Evo-Stik South.

Mills will not be involved, however Pablo Haysham may be in the squad after being injured at Farnborough at the beginning of the month.

Calvin Dinsley and Mike McGrath are still out.
