FIREFIGHTERS from Kingsland, Kington and Leominster were in action earlier tackling a large fire at Penrhos, near Kington.
The flames enveloped machinery, three fibreglass storage tanks, 10 trees and five metres of hedgerow.
Fibreglass can give off dangerous fumes when it burns, so crews used their new respirators for their first time.
A spokeman for the Kington crew said: "The huge flames and smoke plume were seen by most of Kington.
"Fast actions by workers and our crews stopped the fire spreading to nearby workshops and vehicles."
The crews fought the fire using two hosereel jets using a water relay from a water carrier.
