A SINGER from Hereford took to the stage on ITV's The Voice to try and impress the celebrity coaches.

But sadly none of the coaches turned around for 25-year-old Ellis Bridgwater who sang Jessie J's Big White Room.

However, the mum-of-one from Whitecross said she enjoyed the experience so much she is going to return next year to try again.

In the early stages of the competition singers perform to the backs of the coaches who then turn around if they want to mentor the singer and take them to the next stage of the competition.

Ellis said: "Even though I didn't get through, I loved it. It was such a good experience. We were treated really well.

"Behind the scenes we got to work with the band who did your songs with you.

"You work with a vocal teacher as well. You can work on your songs to make sure they are as good on the day as you are in auditions.

"The crew and the production team were so nice. I am definitely going to do it again and go back."

She didn't get to meet any of the celebrity coaches though.

Ellis chose the song, Big White Room, because it is not a well-known song.

She said: "The range - it was perfect. I thought I can show them what my voice can do."

Ellis is no stranger to television as she was on the X Factor eight years ago and made it to boot camp.

Her dream job is to become a recording artist.

She has a two-year-old son called Oliver with husband, Tom, and sings when she can.

She works with Rob Parrett, who has composed music for TV shows and films, and sings covers for backing music to fitness DVDs. She also works on original music.
