A REDDITCH school is one of the first in the county to get its very own 3G multi-purpose artificial pitch.

The building of the new state of the art pitch, at Woodfield Academy, is set to be completed soon.

The floodlit pitch will have goals and markings for 11-aside, nine-aside and five-aside.

It will also have a spectators’ area for friends, family and fans to watch games.

A spokesman from Woodfield Academy said: "We are so pleased to share our excitement at being the only middle school in the town and county with such an outstanding facility. With a spectator area, full height fencing and floodlighting this really is a superb school facility to be proud of.

"We aim to give our students great sporting opportunities to develop their skills for future years. It will also help expand a programme to develop sport within the local community."

Work began on the pitch at the end of October last year and an official opening has been planned for March 23.
