THE owner of a hardware shop in Bromyard has been given an award by the town's Royal British Legion.

Each year the Bromyard RBL president awards a mounted Tower of London poppy to an individual or group who have helped and assisted the branch over the past 12 months.

It is an award that is now in its third year. Previous recipients have been Lamings Bakery and The Totally Local Charity Shop.

This year the president chose to honour Don Reynolds, the owner of A & E Pettifer Ltd Hardware & Ironmongers Merchants 7, High Street.

Secretary of the branch, Jan Brodie Murphy, said: "Don is well known in the town and highly respected in our community. Don assists the legion in many ways and regularly allows the legion to use his shop window space and this year the Remembrance Day window display designed by legion member, Ann Berry, using the 2018 Bromyard Everyone Remembered poppies made a real statement."
