On Saturday, November 11, Music in New Radnor continues its concert season with an evening of harp classics from eminent harpist Elinor Bennett OBE. The evening will showcase some of the most popular music of the harp repertoire from the baroque through the classical, romantic and 20th century and include music by Handel, Dussek, Mozart, Glinka, Spohr, Schubert and Faure.
Elinor is regarded as one of Britain’s most influential harp teachers – former pupils include the well-known Catrin Finch, and Sioned Williams, principal harpist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Elinor was behind the establishment of the William Mathias Music Centre in Caernarfon, is founder and artistic director of the Wales International Harp Festival, and, chair of the selection panel for official harpists to the Prince of Wales. Preious posts have included visiting Professor of Harp at both the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music, and, Director of Harp Studies at Bangor University. She holds an Honorary Doctorate in Music by the University of Wales.
