HEREFORD FC could be in line for an award after being shortlisted for 'Sports Personality of the Year' at the 2017 Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Awards.

The Bulls have had another great year, claiming promotion from Southern League Division One South & West with a whopping 108 points.

It was their second promotion in a row and they could make it a hat-trick this season.

Pete Beadle's team should be in the Evo-Stik South Premier mix come the end of the season and they are also into the first round proper of the FA cup for the first tie.

However, Hereford have some tough competition with five other individuals or organisations nominated.

They include Worcestershire County Cricketer Daryl Mitchell, who turned out for Brockhampton last season.

Mitchell was the second highest run scorer in Division Two of the County Championship as the Pears won the title, amassing 1,266 runs at an average of 55.04.

The 33-year-old also had some fine performances for Brockhampton but could not save the Herefordshire side from being relegated from the Birmingham & County District League Premier Division.

Mitchell's best performance came against Dorridge in May when he smashed 194 runs off just 151 balls.

Other nominees include Midland League Division One champions Bromsgrove Sporting, who reach the semi-finals of the FA Vase as a 10th tier club, Droitwich RFC, who bounced straight back to Midlands Two West (South), Evi Richards, who claimed a bronze medal at the Cyclo-Cross World Championships, and Worcester Warriors centurion Jonny Arr.

The public vote - which can be found here - will close at 11.59pm on Sunday, November 19, with the winner announced at a ceremony held at Worcester's Sixways Stadium on November 23.
