A NUMBER of cricketers popped by Ledbury Cricket Club this week as part of a charity cricket ride.

After starting at Worcestershire's New Road ground, the riders arrived in Ledbury at 11am on Monday where they were greeted by a guard of honour by pupils of Ledbury Primary School.

Club members met former England Ashes heroes Marcus Trescothick and Geraint Jones, Yorkshire's Tim Bresnan and Worcestershire and Brockhampton star Daryl Mitchell.

Former England opening batsmen Graham Flower led the support group, while other riders were Warwickshire's Oliver Hannon Dalby and ex-county players David Fulton and Alan Fordham.

The ride was organised by the Professional Cricketers Association (PCA), with the Worcester to Monmouth journey the fourth leg of the event.

After tucking into bacon rolls and a  vast array of cakes laid on by Ledbury, the riders presented club vice-chairman Stuart Evans and chief organiser Matt Ehrlich a signed bat, certificate and plaque to mark the occasion.

The cyclists entered the Forest of Dean after leaving Ledbury before re-entering the county at Gorsley.
