ONE of the strangest of sporting traditions will take place on Saturday when participants will race in various guises.

It all began in 2007 when a three friends made their way from Huntington, near Kington to the Harp at Old Radnor.

One was on horseback, the other on a bike while the third went on foot.

The differing terrain gave advantages – and disadvantages – to all three as they made their way to the finishing line at the same time.

The contest has continued and an estimated 50 participants will take on the 10th Huntington Chase on the weekend.

Peter Kelly, event organizer said: “It is great to see so many good sports coming back year after year and to welcome new faces.

"Bring your horse, bike or running shoes and the family and join in the fun, at the village hall for a 12 noon start."

He added that walkers need to be ready by 10.45am and proceeds this year are to Home Start and the El-Sabeen Children’s Hospital in Yemen.
