TOP prize among the local entrants at Gladestry's 78th Annual Sheepdog Trial was shared.

Josh Watson, with Mirk, and Sam Bowen, with Rhys, both impressed the judges to be crowned joint first.

Robert Watson, with Nel, was awarded third prize in that section of the contest held at Court of Gladestry by kind permission of the Watson Family.

The judges on the day were Roy Price, from Erwood, and Saturday Merion Jones, from Llandeilo, who also oversaw the Open South Wales Style and the Novice South Wales competitions.

The winner in the former was Nantmel's Bryan Pugh, with Glen, while Pauline Thomas, from Shrewsbury, with Scot, took second place.

Paul Tomkins, from Knighton, with Lyn, came third while Brecon's Yvonne Abrey, with Evie, finished fourth and Beryl Lewis, from Penybont, and Fan were classed fifth.

Pauline Thomas and Scot won the novice class while Paul Tomkins and Lyn were second and Jenny Attwell, with Spek, were third.

In the Open National, Paul Tomkins and Roy won while Knighton's Karin Haker and Rob were second with Bryan Pugh and Roy in third. Jack Chamberlain, from Builth Wells, came fourth with Mac, David Howells and Nip travelled from Port Talbot to take fifth and Yvonne Abrey, with Mona, came sixth.

And, finally, Bryan Pugh and Roy took the Novice National with Karin Haker and Elsa taking second ahead of Erwood's Wendy Jones with Spark.
