KINGTON'S Allan Lloyd has successfully completed his Six Welsh Peaks Challenge by ascending the Aran slopes from Cwm Cywarch above Dinas Mawddwy.
Mr Lloyd completed the tasks to raise awareness and support for St Michael’s Hospice and to celebrate 60 years of marriage to his wife Angela.
She now lives with dementia and so Allan said the climbs of the peaks, including Pen-y-Fan on the actual date of their anniversary, took on an even greater significance.
Allan and Angela’s previous high profile and successful challenge was achieving the new Cancer Treatment Centre in Hereford County Hospital, including the hard fought for Radiotherapy Unit.
Although now over 80 years of age, Allan is already contemplating taking up another challenge in support of the Bartestree hospice after raising thousands from the Welsh climbs.
