A BACKYARD hedgehog sanctuary in Ludlow has been selected as the second category winners in the 2017 Cuprinol Shed of the Year Competition.

The winners were revealed in the second episode of the annual competition after a record breaking 26,571 public votes.

Beating off tough competition, Ailie Hill’s Pricklebums Hedgehog Rescue took home the prize in the ‘unexpected’ category.

The old garden summerhouse was renovated and converted into a hedgehog hospital, for housing sick, injured or orphaned hedgehogs during their treatment and rehabilitation process, prior to re-release into the wild.

This little shed sanctuary is only small but can house up to 22 sick hedgehogs.

Pricklebums Hedgehog Rescue has now secured its place in the final which will see it up against six other category winners in a battle to be crowned Cuprinol Shed of the Year 2017.

“The other sheds in this year’s competition are amazing and I have definitely been inspired by the wonderful variety of uses,” said Ailie Hill who runs the sanctuary.

“To be able to showcase my shed and our hedgehog hospital has been such an amazing opportunity and to be crowned a category winner is something I never expected.”

The winner will receive £1,000 courtesy of sponsors Cuprinol along with a wooden plaque, £100 worth of Cuprinol products and a giant crown for their shed.
