LUDLOW MP and former Defence Minister Philip Dunne has paid tribute to the armed services.

Each year, Armed Forces Day takes place on the last Saturday in June.

Philip Dunne served as Defence Minister from 2012 until 2016, and visited bases across the UK as well as travelling to Afghanistan to meet troops on the frontline.

“We have seen recently how our Armed Forces not only keep the country safe from threats overseas, but also play an important role supplementing the police in the event of terror attacks," he said.

“Their willingness to put themselves in harm’s way to ensure the safety of others is something for which we should all be grateful.”
