ROSEMARY Wood has been given a Civic Award by Ludlow Town Council.

It is in recognition of her voluntary work for the town and community.

She is a former press officer with Ludlow Rotary Club and was a leading light in the establishment of the annual ‘tree of life’ in the town every Christmas.

In 2014 Rosemary Wood set up the Ludlow Cancer Support Group which has regular meetings at the St Peter’s Church Centre in Ludlow.

It provides social and recreational activities as well as offering talks that include practical advice for people tackling cancer.

In 2016, Rosemary Wood was instrumental in the establishment of the Friends of the Corve and Teme, a group that campaigns for action to reduce the risk of flooding of the lower parts of the town.

She knows all too well the dangers of flooding and a decade ago her own home had a narrow escape in a flood that destroyed a nearby bridge and led to the collapse of a house.

Rosemary Wood is active in many aspects of the life of Ludlow, as is her husband Jonathan who is a motoring journalist and author.
