KNIGHTON-on-Teme shredded the form book and gave their survival hopes a huge shot in the arm with a shock five-wicket win at league leaders Canon Frome.

The Knights put their hosts in to bat and quickly got to work as Jack Brain (4-39) and Jack Kitchen (2-19) bludgeoned their way through the top of the order.

Pete Atkin (17) and Matt Richards (19) tried to put up a fight from the middle but not even tail-ender Chris Boyson’s unbeaten 20 could spare Canon Frome’s blushes.

Chasing 131 to win, Adam Brownhill (40) and Richard Grosvenor (14) made a solid enough start before an Andy Lloyd (3-57) inspired wobble.

However, Callum Spires weighed in with 33 with Brain not out on 22 when Knighton reached 132 for five in less than 25 overs.

It gives the Knights renewed impetus ahead of welcoming Colwall III in Marches League Division Two on Saturday (1pm).
