KNIGHTON-on-Teme suffered a spectacular crash to go from a fighting chance to a 92-run defeat in the blink of an eye at Almeley.

The hosts opted to bat but were hit early on by opener John Clayton’s dismissal without scoring before settling into their stride.

Strong performances from Marc Priday (56), Ewan Cardwell (76), Will Owens (50) and Andy Duggan (32) were punctuated by Knighton's persistence but 281 for eight was always going to be a tall order.

The away side, however, attacked their task with gusto as Tim Gasch (35), Jack Kitchen (94) and Dan Pullen (24) made headway.

But there was no support with each of the other batsmen contributing five or fewer as Kevin Duggan (5-35) and Andy Ball (3-35) made light work of their opponents to end the innings within 40 overs as Knighton were restricted to 189 all out.
