EMMA Gwilliam has been chosen to be the Bishop's Castle Carnival Queen for 2017.

She lives in in Bishops Castle, is 25 years old and was a pupil at Bishop's Castle Community College.

Emma enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as horse riding and walking with her dogs.

In 2012 Emma was an attendant to Charmaine Kerswell who was the Carnival Queen for that year. Emma takes the title on from last year’s queen Donna Hughes who will also be taking part in the carnival procession as the Retiring Carnival Queen.

The carnival this year will be held on Sunday, July 2 and floats will gather at Church Bank from 12 noon for judging at 12.30 before the traditional procession starts at 1.00 p.m.

This year’s carnival princess will be Megan Morris who is seven years old and is in class three at Bishop's Castle Primary School.

In 2014, Megan was attendant to the youngest ever carnival princess Leah Davies. She takes the title this year from Katie Barkley who was last year’s Princess.

Megan will be joined on her float by attendants Poppy Bavastock who will be eight on carnival day and is a friend of Megan’s along with Megan’s cousin Phoebe Jones who is 10 years old.

Poppy and Phoebe are also pupils at Bishops Castle Primary School.
