EVERY year, students at Lacon Childe School end up in court.
They prepare and participate in the local, regional and national Mock Trial events.
The Mock Trial involves taking an actual court case and ‘trying’ it as would happen in court, pupils play the roles of all involved in the court process from clerks, court artist and reporters right through to the decision-making magistrates based on the evidence presented on the day.
Students from the school in Cleobury Mortimer competed at Worcester Magistrates’ Court in the local round of the Mock Trial Competition.
In recent years, Lacon Childe has a proven track record in doing very well and representing the area in the regional and national finals and this year was no exception.
Under the guidance teachers and retired magistrate, Christine Short, they outperformed the rest of the teams.
The team came first but they also won trophies for Best Bench of Magistrates and most outstanding student who was Millie Dyer.
There were also commendations for Maddie Meredith and a third place for Mayah Varley as Court Artist.
The Lacon Childe team now go on to the regional round which take place in May and we wish them all the best.
