The slow worm - anguis fragilis - is one of our most regular countryside sights.
This one, photographed by Keith Gluyas, was about a little earlier than normal - they normally hibernate from October to March.
They are legless lizards, rather than snakes, and Keith estimates this one was more than 30cms long
