CLEE Hill finally clawed their way out of the Midlands Three West (North) relegation zone with a 14-8 victory over direct rivals Willenhall.
Connor Deignan and Richard Wozencroft inspired Clee Hill’s third win in 16 league outings so far this season, helping them to leapfrog Willenhall on points difference.
Karl Newman’s side has taken some kind of yield from all five of their fixtures since Christmas and hopes are high that they can extend that gap on Saturday with a home clash against rock-bottom Eccleshall.
Willenhall travel to second-placed Cleobury Mortimer, while leaders Ludlow host Telford Hornets.
Bishop’s Castle & Onny Valley grabbed what could prove to be a crucial bonus point in a 17-15 home defeat to Aston Old Edwardians.
That return is all that separates them from local rivals Church Stretton, who sit in the drop zone ahead of Saturday’s head-to-head at Shrewsbury Road.
Elsewhere, second-placed Tenbury aim to keep their promotion bid on track when they travel to second-bottom Warley in Midlands Five West (North) on Saturday.
