BY popular request, and following the sell-out success of the screening of Memories on Film at Cawley Hall, Eye, The Bigger Picture Archive Project (run by Flicks in the Sticks), in partnership with The North Herefordshire Archive Film Group, is staging another screening on Sunday, February 26.

The films highlighted the importance of people’s sense of connection, in the context of the changing face of our communities, to the history, customs and events within living memory of their local places.

The repeat event will include additional films of rural crafts that are seldom seen nowadays (such as Turkey Feathering by hand and Hedge Laying), as well as country sports such as Otter Hunting, Ratting and Fox Hunting. Other films paint a picture of the changes that have taken place, with The Sale at Stagbatch Farm where farm owner Lewis Holland, sold up the farm he had toiled on all his life. Discovering he was worth a fortune, the whole farming community turned up to see what the grand total would be when the last of his effects went under the hammer!

Ian Kerry, Director of Flicks in the Sticks, said "We are so delighted that the collection and screening of these films has received such enthusiastic response. It demonstrates people’s need and interest in a sense of local belonging."

Tickets for the evening include food at 6.30pm, with the screening to follow at 7.30pm and can be reserved by calling 01568 615836.
