STUDENTS from Tenbury High Ormiston Academy had the opportunity to experience virtual reality for the first time in lessons arranged a Google Expeditions.

Google Expeditions uses virtual reality technology to allow students to experience a whole range of exciting realms, which are all linked to their curriculum.

This could be exploring coral reefs or the surface of Mars, and in the case of Tenbury students, exploring the world of rainforests and volcanoes.

Using a mix of cutting edge technology and easily accessible tools such as smartphones, tablets and specially made cardboard goggles, students are able to really bring to life what they are learning in lessons.

“Technology like this is a great complement to traditional teaching methods and give students access to a vast range of experiences,” said geography teacher ******* Hawkins to organised the lesson.

“This works to further inspire students, keep them excited about the curriculum and develop a passion for subjects which we hope they will carry throughout their school careers.”
