FORMER Defence Minister and now Minister for Health, Philip Dunne MP, is encouraging servicemen and women, veterans and their families to tell Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group about their patient experiences.

Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group is looking for feedback from the county’s military community, whether positive or negative, to ensure they are living up to the NHS Covenant pledge.

The NHS has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, which pledges to ensure the Armed Forces aren’t disadvantaged when accessing health services; provide priority care for service-related injuries and conditions, including meeting the nation’s moral obligation to service personnel for those physically or mentally injured; and to provide access to health professionals who understand Armed Forces culture for those who have mental health concerns.

“I am pleased that the NHS locally and nationally have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, alongside other local bodies like Shropshire Council,” said Philip Dunne MP for Ludlow.

We owe a debt of gratitude to any who have served in our Armed Forces, and this pledge is about respecting our moral obligation to look after those who have worn uniform to help keep us safe.

“With RAF Cosford, MOD Donnington, RAF Shawbury and Tern Hill Barracks in the area there are many servicemen and women in Shropshire, not to mention the significant number of veterans.

“I encourage them to give their feedback to Shropshire CCG, to ensure they can better tailor their services and meet the needs of our service family here in Shropshire.”
