THE two ladies from Poyners are at it again.
Sisters Jean Parker and Margaret Edwards from the women’s and children’s clothes shop in Broad Street were behind the putting of the names at the foot of the Ludlow War Memorial.
The memorial in the town centre now has set out on slabs the names of all of those from the town who died fighting in the two world wars of the last century and in the Korean War.
It was at a special ceremony in July that the names were unveiled on the 100th anniversary of the day two men from Ludlow died in the Battle of the Somme.
But the engraving and setting down of the memorial slabs did not come cheap and they will need to be maintained.
So after a brief respite Jean and Margaret have organised another fundraising event for the memorial.
It will be a ‘Poppy Day Concert’ at Ludlow Methodist Church featuring the town’s Male Voice Choir and Bella a Cappella.
The concert is on Friday, November 11 at 7.30pm in Ludlow Methodist Church and tickets are £5 and can be purchased from Poyners in Broad Street.
