A LUDLOW councillor wants tradespeople in the town to be made more aware of a discount parking scheme.

Vivienne Parry who sits on both Ludlow Town Council and Shropshire Council says that some tradespeople are paying £15 a day for parking in the town.

But she says that they could buy special discount tickets at just £1 a day.

"I've had a number of complaints from the tradesmen and other people doing work in the town centre,” said Vivienne Parry.

“They are having to pay £15 a day to do work in homes and the shops in town.”

But she says that special tickets can be purchased from the council at Ludlow Library that allow parking for just £1 a day and are available in a book of 10.

"Ludlow is a major tourist centre with a vibrant shopping centre and frequent events at the Assembly Rooms and other venues in town.

“It is critical that we allow access for tradespeople, suppliers and others to park in the town centre at reasonable cost.”

She wants Shropshire Council to do more to publicise the special parking discount.
