BORDERS Trio, who can be heard at Ledbury's Market Theatre on Saturday, October 1, are not your typical classical chamber ensemble.

David Grubb (violin), Anna Perry (clarinet) and Jess Ryan-Phillips (piano) specialise in non-traditional music, from Khachaturian to Klezmer, tangos to tarantellas, and Stravinsky to Saint-Saens. The three musicians met whilst studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and since their debut at the Wales Millennium Centre in 2014, they have performed in various settings (New Radnor, Newport Cathedral, Monmouth Festival, City Hall, London and this year’s Ledbury Poetry Festival) to critical acclaim. This autumn, they will be presenting a concert of new music written especially for them: Karim Bedda’s Cloud Forest, Rosie Kempson’s Time and Motion, and a suite from Alison Chai amongst some trio classics.

Borders Trio play at The Market Theatre on Saturday, October 1 at 8pm. To book, call the box office on 07967 517125 or visit themarkettheatre.com
