THE Liberal Democrats have retained Bishops Castle on Shropshire Council.
Jonny Keeley was a comfortable winner finishing well ahead of the Conservatives with Labour and the Green Party a distant third and fourth.
He received 862 votes ahead of Georgie Ellis (420), Judith Payne, the Labour Candidate 95 and Steve Ellis of the Green Party 37.
The by-election followed the shock decision to stand down by Charlotte Barnes who had been the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Ludlow at the General Election in 2015.
She announced her resignation earlier in the summer for ‘personal reasons.’
