BROWN Clee maintained their flying start in Sportsjam Mercian League Division One thanks largely to James Byatt’s four-goal haul.
Byatt was joined by Tom Everall on the score sheet in a 5-2 triumph over Shifnal United at Hall Meadow to make it two wins out of two.
They join leaders Oakengates Rangers, Shrewsbury Juniors and Madeley Sports reserves in boasting a 100 per cent record in the embryonic standings. A home clash with Stoke Heath awaits Brown Clee on Saturday (2.30).
A hat-trick from Nathan Giles was not enough to fire Craven Arms Town to their first victory of the season in a 3-3 draw with Stoke Heath.
Unbeaten high-fliers Newport Town Reserves are next on the agenda for Town on Saturday (2.30).
In the Premier Division, Church Stretton were without a fixture. They journey to FC Hodnet on Saturday (3pm).
There were mixed fortunes for Orleton Colts with a win and a defeat inside the space of 48 hours.
On Thursday, Cory Whitticase, Nathan Hardisty and Jabez Smith struck in a 3-1 home success against Wellington Reserves.
However, they were unable to back that up in Saturday’s afternoon kick-off which ended in a 1-0 defeat to Ewyas Harold.
Colts, who have three points from three matches in the Herefordshire FA County League to date, entertain Bartestree on Saturday (2.30pm).
